Reform
I campaigned, successfully, on the guiding principles listed here. And now I feel the best way to begin to achieve these goals is to form an Oversight and Reform Committee. I believe such a committee will be the first vitally important step to moving us forward towards a Dignitarian Society and hold ourselves accountable.

Guiding Principles:
Transparency – Government should be clearly and easily observed
Accessibility – Government should be easily accessed through all means available today. The County Commissioner meetings held at a more convenient, even necessary time to involve more persons who have varied responsibilities and hold down full-time jobs. Require that all of the county’s business of the people be recorded, word for word, and video recorded for live streaming on the internet and archived for subsequent review by the county’s employer, the tax payers.
Accountability – Those entrusted with the privilege to serve our community are expected to take responsibility for decisions made on our behalf, particularly fiscal responsibility. Only after we have Transparency and Accessibility is Accountability possible.
Fairness – To do what is right and not just “be right” requires a deeper sense of respect for each other. Fairness can be difficult to define in all situations, but we all know it when we see it. Sometimes, the right and fair decision can be unpopular, but in the long run I believe most people will understand and support someone who is consistently fair. Transparency, Accessibility and Accountability will allow Fairness to prevail.
and finally:
Dignity – This issue is believed to be the underlying cause of all prejudice and social injustice. Dignity is the right of all, regardless of rank. Though my job as Commissioner may require different skills and responsibilities, I have no more or less right to be treated with dignity than any other citizen. I promise, in all aspects of the county government, I will do my best to assure you will be treated with dignity. A dignitarian society will provide liberty and justice for all. Why not let this Great County of Shiawassee be a shining example to the Country and the World, where all are treated with equal dignity and rankism it banished.
These principles may seem too virtuous and broad for a position such as County Commissioner. But these ideals with roots in our US and Michigan Constitution are urgently called for today in all levels of government.
I look forward to talking with our friends and neighbors in Shiawassee County about our concerns.
I’ll stake the success of my term of service on the idea that all our concerns will be rooted in these values and as these principles are fought for, we will all rise to a better community.
